20th June - Return to Hever Castle Classic Car Rally

and RREC Surrey Section Trophy Show

For a second time Surrey Section club returned to Hever Castle’s Classic Car event, this year held on Father’s Day 20th of June. Passing all Covid Secure assessments the Hever Castle event hosted over 600 classic cars and 4,000 paying public on the day. RREC-Surrey section had double the number of cars with over 30 cars booked to attend this year. Having had a week of torrential rain many were reluctant to bring out their beautiful cars. The day started very overcast and dry and by mid-afternoon it was beautiful sunshine. The ladies of the club excelled themselves by providing some elegant picnics won this year by Mrs Sue Longley’s “Pretentious Picnic” display of Fortnum & Mason baskets, food and matching Champagne and Champagne ice bucket. RREC Surrey also held their annual members car Trophy Day awarding 5 trophies and a bottle of champagne for one non-Surrey member prize. New chairman, Art Ramirez, was interviewed live by BBC Radio Kent during the event giving our club added publicity for our charity events and the Hever Castle classic car show.
