SURREY SECTION ANNUAL TROPHY SHOW
Saturday August 18th, 2018

The day was rather overcast at the start of the day although the sun appeared later on.  As usual there was a good turnout at the 2018 Capel Horticultural and Classic Car Show.   There were 600 vehicles on show ranging from a Reliant Robin owned by Hugh Evans, American Cars including a Mercury Monteray owned by Eric Collard who runs the American Car Club.  As in previous years the motorbike enthusiasts were there with bikes of all ages and makes.  I was pleased to see that 30 Bentley and Rolls Royce vehicles from the Surrey Club turned out on the day. Monique Bass was there with her Bentley Brooklands 1993.  Monique has been invited to the Concourse Elegance at Hampton Court on the 31st August where the top 50 cars in the world will be on display.   Tickets can be obtained if anyone wanted to attend this event although I must advise that the price of such tickets is from £50.00.  Prince Michael of Kent will be in attendance.

Trevor Longley's car driven there by his son James Longley is a Bentley Turbo R 1990.  Trevor's Bentley won the Best in Class Montague Shield. The car has a TV, picnic tables, Waterford Crystal glasses and decanters, A play station and a DVD player. The Capel Horticultural Show takes place on the day. Sue Longley entered flower arrangements and won three firsts, one second and a very highly commended in the floral classes Judges Choice.  Well done Sue.  James Longley won two first, three seconds, one third and one highly commended for his photography. Congratulations also to James. Marshalling was carried out by Tony Okker in the uniform of a RSM of the British Army.  Len Meades also assisted with the marshalling too !
