Hever Castle Classic Car Rally & Surrey Section Trophy Day

Over 26 rolls royces and bentleys joined us this year for another very successful and enjoyable day at Hever Castle.  The organisation and stewarding by the Castle staff was very well organised giving our marque pride of place just opposite the river side in front of Hever Castle.  This excellent location meant we had lots of attention from the thousands of visitors this Father's Day.  We had several outstanding "Coronation" themed picnics with colourful flags and banners and flowers.  Joint winners this year was Sue Longley and Bob & Erica Maurer!

We had our annual trophy day selecting informally some of our best cars on show this year!  We award five trophies: "Hopkins Trophy" for pre-1945 cars; "Shootlands Trophy" for 1945/1979 cars; "Montague Trophy" for 1979/1999 cars; "Royce Trophy" for post 1999 cars and the "Classic Automobile Trophy" for best of show! The winners were Stephen Darville, Mike Scott, Richard Balsdon, Mrs Gaye Frieze and best of show to Bruce Reed for his 1934 Bentley 3 1/2 litre Park Ward sports saloon.  He has owned this car for several years and is a testament to his hard work keeping in superb condition. Many of the new winners are new members to our section!
